Position Responsibilities:
VCU School of Nursing invites applicants to apply for the position of Research Coordinator for the RECOVER Long Covid Study. Applicants should have a strong interest in research regarding children, young adults, and families. This study is focused on understanding the long term impact of COVID on children, young adults and their families. The Research Coordinator will assist the research team with participant recruitment, enrollment, tracking, data collection, including participant surveys, observational data, and biological sample collection at in-person visits at the School of Nursing and in the community, and verification of data in the database. The Research Coordinator will also assist the team in areas such as communications (e.g., website presence, coordinating with community partners, communicating with community organizations and clinicians, etc) and regulatory issues (reports to the Clinical Science Core, IRB, etc). The Research Coordinator will maintain CITI and other relevant certifications and will follow the manual of operating procedures/ IRB-approved protocol. The Research Coordinator will assist the research team with other similar duties as assigned. Position includes some evenings and weekends. Hours/week: 40
Responsibilities include:
- The RC will engage in participant recruitment, enrollment, tracking, data collection, and verification of data in the study database.
- The RC will be involved in biological sample processing, which will include being available on evenings and weekends.
- The RC will engage in retention efforts, including regular communication with research participants and participant compensation.
- The RC will engage in various forms of communication about the study; will engage in effective communication with the study's research team members, community partners, community organizations, social media outlets, research participants, and others.
- The RC will engage with community members at community outreach activities and at study visits with families, which will include being available on evenings and weekends.
- The RC will maintain current CITI credentials for Human Subjects Protections, Good Clinical Practice, and other certifications as required; will understand and adhere to all IRB requirements Human Subjects Protection regulations, and all aspects of the IRB-approved protocol; will engage in training activities as required by the RECOVER study.
- The RC will assist the research team with other duties as assigned.
- High school degree/GED or highest
- Education, training, or experience related to research, health care, data management, or similar
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, spreadsheet management, online database use/maintenance, file maintenance & management, and similar)
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with an interprofessional team and with community members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to study needs, regulations, and work environment
- Ability to travel for study visits and events (e.g., Vvalid driver's license or reliable mode of transportation), as some events/visits occur off campus in the community of greater Richmond/ central Virginia
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule that includes working evenings and some weekends
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Strong interest in children's health and research
- Experience with research studies
- Experience working in healthcare field or enrolled in a healthcare program of study
- Evidence of effective communication with research participants and/or patients
- Completion of research ethics training (CITI)
- Experience working with underrepresented populations and in communities
- Previous phlebotomy training
This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience, starting at $40,000
