Mission
VCU's College of Health Professions, consisting of nine departments and a center, includes U.S. News and World Report top-ranked programs with physical therapy and occupational therapy ranked in the top 20, rehabilitation counseling ranked number six, healthcare management ranked third, and the nurse anesthesia program ranked number one in the nation. As of Fall 2022, the College's student body included nearly 1,200 individuals, with over 300 undergraduates and more than 800 graduate and
certificate students. Summary
The nationally-ranked VCU College of Health Professions seeks culturally and professionally diverse candidates to apply for the Research Coordinator position. Reporting to the Director of the Sensorimotor Performance and Rehabilitation Engineering lab, the Research Coordinator will be responsible for supporting, facilitating, and coordinating the daily research activities, playing a critical role in the conduct of the study. This position is responsible for the following.
- Work with the study principal investigator (PI), the department, sponsor, and institution to support the research study
- Maintain current CITI credentials for Human Subject Protections, Good Clinical Practice, Clinical Research Coordinator, plus sponsor and Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines as required
- Understand and adhere to all IRB requirements, Human Subjects protection regulations, and all aspects of IRB approved protocols
- Conduct all assigned activities in compliance with national, local, and institutional guidelines, according to all HIPAA, GCP, and other applicable requirements
- Oversee regulatory aspects of research (e.g. IRB, NIH, etc.), working with PI to ensure submissions are complete and submitted on time
- Maintain regulatory binders in audit ready state, including ensuring documentations and records are complete according to IRB and NIH requirements
- Recruit, screen, enroll, schedule, and consent study participants
- Supervise and assist with data collection
- Manage study databases (e.g. REDCap, Google suite, CHP network drive)
- Attend weekly research team meetings
- Support orientation and training of new research team members
- Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation sciences, health sciences, psychology, research, or a related field
- Two years + experience working in research environment or equivalent field
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex regulations, policies, and requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of clinical research management duties from study initiation to close-out to include: regulatory, human subject's protection, study conduct, and data management requirements
- Familiarity with research process and principles of research design
- Understanding of rehabilitation research and other health research methods
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in fast-paced environment, seeking guidance from PI and other staff members when necessary
- Exhibit professionalism and ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with VCU colleagues, collaborators, research participants, and contacts necessary to effectively support research studies
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- Graduate degree in rehabilitation sciences, engineering, health sciences, psychology, research, or a related field
- Five years+ research experience working with young children and their families
- Supervisory/management experience
- Familiarity with VCU Health
- Experience using software applications such as REDcap, Google suites, Datavyu, SPSS for participant tracking, data management, processing, and analysis
- Experience interviewing/conducting surveys with parents of pediatric research participants
- Experience in conducting clinical assessments with children (e.g. standardized sensory and motor assessments for pediatric populations
This position is a restricted position with grant funding guaranteed until 2028. Continued employment after that time will be contingent upon future grant funding.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience, starting at $50,000
