Job Summary:

The New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) Intern position at Texas Christian University (TCU) is designed to give a graduate student orientation and transition experience coupled with departmental projects in a professional position. The NSFP Intern is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing content for orientation & frog camp programming. The intern position requires enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and initiative to work collaboratively within NSFP, Leadership & Student Involvement and the Division of Student Affairs. The intern will establish goals and objectives for their experience and will be expected and encouraged to take the initiative in completing projects and reaching his/her objectives. Evening and weekend hours are required.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Support New Student & Family Programs
2. Supports and participates in student leader training for orientation/frog camp leaders
3. Assists the professional staff in the supervision of student directors/coordinators and leaders
4. Supports the logistics of frog camps/orientation programs, including but not limited to: communication with presenters, sessions preparation, management of check-in process and corresponding paperwork, and facilitation of student staff meetings
5. Processes session reports in slate and helps manage registration in slate
6. Assists in the implementation of specific programs' logistics
7. Collects, analyzes and distributes assessment data
8. After sessions conclude in July, work on other NSFP projects and connects with faculty and staff across functional areas on campus
9. Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Prior experiences as an Orientation Leader or Transfer Student Leader, or OTE office experience
• Knowledge of developmental issues of college-aged students.
• Knowledge of safety regulations.
• Knowledge of job-related policies and regulations.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office.
• Skill in Microsoft Windows navigation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to train and lead staff.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.

• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
