Job Description:


SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a part-time CSTEP Coordinator to join their team.

The part-time, grant funded CSTEP (Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program) coordinator is needed to facilitate student success by informing students regarding transfer processes, introducing internship and career opportunities; and conversations that lead to appropriate guidance regarding degree completion and transfer STEM students. Reporting to the CSTEP & LSAMP Director, the CSTEP coordinator will be charged with working on videography, photography and media for CSTEP and Math Science Technology and Health (MSTH) to build a media presence and a network within our student population, while possibly drawing in potential students. The coordinator will interact directly with students, voluntary guest speakers, and alumni. The coordinator should have a background in a STEM field either through education or work experience in order to help students with research projects, transfer and career pathway questions. Strong awareness and sensitivity towards under-represented and at-risk populations is desirable since the coordinator will be working with many different populations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create an online media presence for SUNY Schenectady CSTEP and STEM students.
  • Assisting students with their research projects.
  • Set-up computers to access the platform that students work with during the BRITE Summer program students.
  • Train ahead of time to understand the computer platforms and techniques that students will be using, in order to help the students that will be performing their research experiments in the Summer programs.
  • Run the meeting with voluntary guest speakers that come to speak to CSTEP and Summer program students.
  • Availability to work some nights and weekends.
  • Conduct outreach to alumni to increase their involvement with the College and local community.
  • Organizing alumni informational data in Excel
  • Act as liaison to Director of Marketing regarding vetting of potential social media posts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or higher in any of the STEM or License Professional fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering or Math.
  • Proficient in the use of various software including Microsoft Office Suite and Canvas, and social media outlets including Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook/Meta.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess scientific knowledge and competence to support student research projects in STEM fields.
  • Self-disciplined to work independently, or as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Positive work ethic and ability to motivate others.
  • Have a commitment to learning and creativity.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Previous experience or training in STEM Careers and fields such as Math, Science, Technology or License Professional fields.
  • Familiar with CSTEP requirements and operations.

Salary: $15.45 per hour

  • This is a part-time (14-16 hours per week) grant-funded position.
