Position Summary: The Faith Formation Director, as an active and believing Catholic, is charged 
with providing the leadership, vision, and administration of comprehensive formation for all ages 
of the parish in collaboration with parish staff. 


Primary Responsibilities:
I. Develop, plan and prepare a faith formation program for all ages. (55%)

A. Collaborate with planning teams and staff to coordinate the setting up of facilities.

B. Oversee selection and implementation of specific grade, middle and high school formation 
materials.

C. Supervise Faith Formation staff

D. Coordinate youth events i.e. Totus Tuus, VBS with Youth Minister

E. Integrate a connection to the Liturgical seasons and other parish programs

F. Implement elementary faith formation programming

G. Lead and implement grade school formation programs

H. Plan and implement adult and college formation opportunities

I. Promote stewardship and recruit parishioners for faith formation programs/events

J. Participate in archdiocesan and deanery faith formation meetings and events 

II. Sacramental Preparation (15%)

A. Organize and collaborate with team(s) and staff to implement programs for sacramental 
processes: RCIA, Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation. 

B. Coordinate sacramental events with pastor and staff.
III. Formation of leaders. (15%)

A. Lead and empower strong planning teams.

B. Gather background material; meet and discuss sessions/programs with lay leaders and 
staff.

IV. Utilize “outside the walls” faith formation opportunities. (10%)

A. Coordinate and contribute to periodic faith formation newsletter.

B. Utilize social media and provide web-based and distance learning faith formation 
opportunities. 

C. Collaborate with parishioners and staff to develop home-based faith formation and/or 
faith sharing groups. 

V. Administrative (5%)

A. Coordinate, prepare and maintain budget and scheduling for all educational processes

B. Attend and participate in Faith Formation Commission meetings

C. Assure archdiocesan guidelines are met for volunteers (i.e. VIRTUS)

D. Other duties and training as assigned by pastor/administrator.

E. Continually seek input and feedback from parish
Education and/or Experience

I. Advanced skills in communication, creativity, leadership and organization 

II. Degree in Catholic Studies, Theology or comparable education or experience

III. Experience with religious education or a related field
