Lab & Sports Production Assistant
Gaston College is seeking applicants for a Lab & Sports Production Assistant position.

Annual Salary: $37,592.00
Set up, operate, and maintain equipment for radio and television labs. Maintain equipment and facilities, report malfunctions to faculty, manage sign-out/in of equipment by students, and maintain an orderly equipment storage room. This position will also assist the Sports Producer in game coverage, and help with campus events and departmental activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate, monitor, and adjust audio and video equipment to regulate the volume and ensure quality in radio and television broadcasts, concerts, and other performances.
- Set up and tear down equipment for events and live performances.
- Record speech, music, and other sounds on recording equipment or computers, sometimes using complex software.
- Synchronize sounds and dialogue with action taking place on television or in movie productions.
- Convert video and audio records to digital formats for editing on computers.
- Install audio, video, and sometimes lighting equipment in hotels, offices, and schools.
- Report and repair complex equipment problems.
- Keep records of recordings and equipment used.
- Assist and/or supervise the sports broadcasting faculty/staff/crew as needed, including some potential weekend time.
- Assist with campus tours and marketing of program, including social media.
- Maintain lab equipment and check-out process.
- Complete campus projects as requested.
- Assemble and compile weekly radio news show for WSGE.
- Other duties as department and college needs dictate.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- A.A.S. or B.A. in Broadcasting or a related field required
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional experience or academic experience required working as a technician with audio and video production equipment and production software including video cameras, switchers, audio, and other TV production studio equipment, music recording studio equipment, video lighting, and digital production computer workstations using video and audio production software, preferably Pro Tools and Premiere.
- Sports broadcasting experience and radio experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds required.
- Ability to work from ladders required.
