Teaching Positions
Business Teacher
Responsibilities:
- Teach business courses aligned to the Iowa State Standards in Business, Finance, Marketing, and Management.
- Manage the student-run Viking Corner Store through marketing classes, including overseeing inventory, sales, and marketing strategies and providing hands-on experience to students.
- Develop and manage a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) in Business, providing opportunities for leadership, competition, and professional development.
- Participate in professional development and ongoing training to maintain expertise in business education, including staying up-to-date on new trends and best practices.
- Develop and implement lesson plans, assessments, and curricula that align with the Iowa Teaching Standards and Danielson Domains.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, grades, and attendance per school policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and staff to promote student success and achievement, including through interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.
- Incorporate technology and other innovative teaching methods to engage and motivate students, including those with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
- Build opportunities for work-based learning through internships and apprenticeships, and provide support and guidance to students in pursuing these opportunities.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student learning, growth, and success and upholds the values and mission of the school and district.
Requirements:
- Valid, current Iowa teaching license (or willingness to obtain)
- 5-12 Business Endorsement (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
K-12 Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs that align with the vision for teaching and learning in the Decorah Community School District and the Iowa Core Standards
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the academic and social-emotional needs of students
- Assess student progress and modify instruction as needed, using data-driven decision-making
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in small groups or one-on-one settings, using evidence-based strategies and interventions
- Communicate with parents and guardians about student progress and needs using multiple methods of communication
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on best practices in special education
- Follow all relevant laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Iowa state special education rules and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation, including IEPs and progress reports
- Plan and prepare lesson materials and resources that are accessible and engaging for all students
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that meets the needs of all students, using trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, using universal design for learning principles

Decorah Middle School and John Cline Elementary
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs that align with the vision for teaching and learning in the Decorah Community School District and the Iowa Core Standards as well as the Iowa Core Essential Elements
- Implement Alternate Assessments for Dynamic Learning Maps and Early Literacy
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the academic and social-emotional needs of students
- Assess student progress and modify instruction as needed, using data-driven decision-making
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in small groups or one-on-one settings, using evidence-based strategies and interventions
- Communicate with parents and guardians about student progress and needs using multiple methods of communication
