PART-TIME LABORER

The City of Cedar Falls Operations and Maintenance Division has an opening for a year-round (up to 29 hrs/wk) Laborer with primary assignment to the Park and Cemetery Section but utilized throughout the Division as needed.  Typical hours range from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mon-Fri. and an occasional Saturday.  Starting wage: $15.884/hr., and the position is eligible for union contract, step pay increases, and PT benefits including pro-rated holidays, vacation, wellness, and retirement plans.

Position is a semi-skilled, labor position requiring physical strength & endurance for duties primarily related to construction or maintenance within city parks or cemeteries.  Duties related to arboricultural needs, mowing/yard work, or related operations may also be assigned. 

High school diploma, or equivalent, required; good driving record, and (as applicable) possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) w/air brake endorsement within 3 months of employment also required. Individual selected is also subject to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse queries, driver’s license and driving record reviews, and DOT random drug and alcohol screenings.  Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment background check, physical, lifting assessment and drug screen also required for the individual selected.
