Job Summary
To teach undergraduate courses in Human Development and Family Science; advise students in the major, advise and mentor undergraduate student researchers; facilitate student experiences in community agencies; maintain an active research agenda within a discipline associated with Human Development and Family Science; demonstrate high quality teaching; perform service to the department, campus and university; engage in continued professional development and thrive in a team-based work environment.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Essential Job Functions
Academic:
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum for area of expertise;
Teach various undergraduate courses in Human Development and Family Science that correspond with their expertise and graduate level training;
Develop curriculum, conduct exams, submit grades and provide appropriate office and advisement hours
Prepare syllabi that include assignments that reflect the inclusion of elements of the Body of Knowledge when and where appropriate.
Serve as academic advisor for Human Development and Family Science program to ensure timely graduation of students
Utilize innovative, individual and group learning processes that include student-centered and experiential learning approaches;
Deliver campus-based classroom and distance-accessible, online courses;
Mentor students in research, scholarship and career planning;
Assist in recruitment of students for the Department of Human Sciences.
Service:
Serve as active scholar, participate and maintain active membership in professional organizations
Work collaboratively with the Child Development Learning Center in the department to provide student field experiences and support departmental initiatives.
Attend required departmental, school and university related faculty meetings
Attend special university functions (including commencement) which may be announced from time to time.
Professional Development
Maintain productive professional and community partnerships;
Maintain professional currency in areas relevant to teaching expertise;
Maintain continuing education requirements;
Develop and implement individualized plan for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities;
Engage in scholarly publications and research endeavors.

Qualifications
·Ph.D. in Human Development, Human Development and Family Studies, Social Work, Counselor Education, Educational Psychology, Psychology, or Family Studies
·ABD applicants must have completed their degree prior to the first day of employment.
·Demonstrated commitment to high quality teaching in a variety of modalities, including the use of contemporary distance education technologies.
·Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice in research and teaching
·Evidence of research focus and scholarship in the field of Human Development and Family Science.
